Head mobile phone manufacturers voice: chips out of stock, extremely short!

"目前手机处理器、PMIC电源管理芯片、MCU微处理器芯片缺货"，中国台湾一位行业分析师告诉记者，从市场整体缺货情况来看，至少要到今年年底才会出现缺货。

在5g、汽车电子、物联网应用需求的带动下，超薄指纹识别、电源管理IC、MOSFET、面板驱动IC、传感器等产品的需求量迅速增加。以电源管理芯片为例，一部4G手机只有一个PMIC，但5g手机需要三个PMIC，这相当于需求的翻倍。

Led by the demand for 5g, automotive electronics, Internet of things applications, the demand for ultra-thin fingerprint identification, power management IC, MOSFET, panel driver IC, sensor and other products has rapidly increased. Take the power management chip as an example, a 4G mobile phone has only one PMIC, but 5g mobile phone needs three, which is equal to a doubling of the demand.

手机供应链人士对记者表示："PMIC可以生产10万部4G手机，但现在只能生产2万部5g手机。"。

"PMIC can make 100k 4G mobile phones, but now it can only make 20K 5g mobile phones." The mobile phone supply chain said to reporters.

据悉，PMIC主要在8英寸晶圆厂生产，6英寸和8英寸晶圆代工也是生产上述手机芯片最划算的方式，但6英寸和8英寸晶圆代工的产能难以扩大。根据semi-report的数据，2016年，全球8英寸生产线数量为188条，到2020年底，8英寸生产线数量只会增长到191条。

It is reported that PMIC is mainly produced in 8-inch wafer factories, and the 6-inch and 8-inch wafer foundry is also the most cost-effective way to produce the above mobile phone chips, but it is difficult to expand the production capacity of 6-inch and 8-inch wafer foundry. According to the data of semi report, in 2016, the number of 8-inch production lines in the world was 188, and by the end of 2020, the number of 8-inch production lines will only grow to 191.

据记者了解，现阶段，部分电源管理IC生产已从8英寸晶圆厂转移到12英寸晶圆厂，但转换时间和成品率问题短期内无法迅速缓解目前的"芯荒"问题。

According to the reporter, at this stage, some power management IC production has been transferred from 8-inch wafer factory to 12 inch factory, but the conversion time and yield problems can not quickly alleviate the current "core shortage" problem in the short term.
