University of national defense science and technology has successfully developed a new programmable silicon-based optical quantum computing chip

国防科技大学计算机科学学院量子团队与军事科学院、中山大学等国内外单位共同研制了一种新型可编程硅基光学量子计算芯片,实现了量子计算的量子算法解决了各种图论问题,并有望在未来的大数据处理等领域得到应用。这一成果已发表在国际权威期刊《科学进步》上。

The quanta team of the school of computer science of the University of national defense science and technology, together with the Academy of Military Sciences, Sun Yat sen University and other domestic and foreign units, has developed a new type of programmable silicon-based optical quantum computing chip, which has realized quantum algorithms for solving a variety of graph theory problems, and is expected to be applied in large data processing and other fields in the future. This achievement has been published in the international authoritative journal science advances.

国防科技大学、军事科学院、中山大学等国内外机构的研究人员研制了一种用于图论量子算法的可编程量子芯片,提出了一种可动态编程多粒子量子行走的量子芯片结构。量子行走是量子物理中一种独特的数学模型,也是一种重要的量子计算模型。它是许多量子算法的重要核心。该结构能充分调节量子行走的演化时间、哈密顿量、粒子同一性、粒子交换特性等因素,实现不同参数的量子行走过程,从而支持基于量子行走模型的一系列量子算法的运行。

Researchers from National Defense University of science and technology, Academy of Military Sciences, Sun Yat sen University and other institutions at home and abroad have developed a programmable quantum chip for quantum algorithm of graph theory, and proposed a quantum chip structure that can dynamically program multi particle quantum walk. Quantum walk is not only a unique mathematical model of quantum physics, but also an important quantum computing model. It is an important core of many quantum algorithms. The proposed structure can fully regulate the evolution time, Hamiltonian, particle identity, particle exchange characteristics and other factors of quantum walk, and realize the quantum walk process with different parameters, thus supporting the operation of a series of quantum algorithms based on quantum walk model.

基于这种结构,研究人员利用硅基集成光学技术设计并实现了一种可编程量子计算芯片。该芯片集成了纠缠光子源、可配置光网络等,通过对片上器件的电子控制来控制光的量子态,实现量子信息的编码和量子算法的映射,具有高集成度、高稳定性和高精度的优点。

Based on the proposed structure, researchers have designed and implemented a programmable quantum computing chip using silicon-based integrated optical technology. The chip integrates entangled photon source, configurable optical network and so on, and controls the quantum state of light through electronic control of on-chip components, so as to realize the coding of quantum information and the mapping of quantum algorithm, which has the advantages of high integration, high stability and high accuracy.

研究人员还通过编程和运行光学量子计算芯片,演示了顶点搜索和图同构等图论问题的量子算法。图论是大数据处理等许多重要应用的核心。与经典算法相比,各种量子算法在求解图论问题时具有不同程度的计算加速势。随着芯片尺寸和光子数的增加,新型可编程硅基光量子计算芯片支持的图形问题规模迅速增大。

The researchers also demonstrated the quantum algorithms for graph theory problems, such as vertex search and graph isomorphism, by programming and running the optical quantum computing chip. Graph theory is the core of many important applications such as big data processing. Compared with the classical algorithms, various quantum algorithms have different degrees of computational acceleration potential in solving graph theory problems. With the increase of chip size and photon number, the scale of graph problem supported by new programmable silicon-based optical quantum computing chip increases rapidly.

这一成果展示了硅基光学量子芯片技术在实现特定量子计算应用方面的巨大潜力。

This achievement demonstrates the great potential of silicon-based optical quantum chip technology to realize specific quantum computing applications.
